  • Cooking, really, is nothing more than the cutting up and recombining of edible things, sometimes using the application of heat.  This is something I try to impress upon people when they get overly impressed by a freshly baked apple pie, or cheesecake, or, well, anything really.
Therefore, I encourage you to try and make an apple pie of your own.  Hell, I’ll help!  It really is very straightforward, though working with pie dough takes a bit of practice.
A benefit of making apple pies is that it makes your friends very excited when you give them some.
Another benefit is that it tastes even better eaten on your roof at 4 a.m. in the midst of Very Serious conversations about education policy, life, etc.
What, you don’t lure cute girls back to your apartment at 4 a.m. with the promise of pie?
